Janitor / Custodian

 

We have an opening for a Janitor / Custodian on 1st shift to keep the premises of office building and production areas clean and orderly.

  • No prior experience is required.
  • No computer skills are required.
  • Must possess the ability to read and comprehend basic work instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety policies, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must possess the basic ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple written or verbal instructions, and the ability to deal with standardized situations with few or no variables.
  • Must possess the ability to work independently with little direct supervision.
  • Must be able to prioritize responsibilities and adapt to changes in workload and schedule.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Classified as Category Two Occupation per Bloodborne Pathogen Control Plan

Primary Responsibilities

  • Cleans offices, hallways, lobbies, kitchenettes, break rooms, rest rooms, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
  • Sweeps, scrubs, mops floors.
  • Cleans rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture.
  • Dusts furniture and equipment.
  • Washes walls, windows, door panels, and sills.

  • Empties wastebaskets, trash and recycling containers.
  • Transports trash and production waste to the appropriate disposal area.
  • Washes dishes and coffee pots in the kitchenettes.
  • Cleans refrigerators, microwaves and toasters in Break Rooms.
  • Straightens newspapers and magazines, washes tables and replenishes napkin dispensers in the Break Rooms on a daily basis.
  • Replenishes bathroom supplies.

  • Maintains inventory of supplies, and reorders as necessary.
  • Follows all established safety policies and procedures.
  • Supports the Lean Manufacturing initiatives of the company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
