Back Up Production Technician Team Leader 1st Shift
Lead daily production activities, drive continuous improvement through MDI (Managing for Daily Improvement), and support a high-performing team on the manufacturing floor.
1st shift Hours are 7am-3pm Monday-Friday
Job Description
Primary responsibilities include the following:
- On site regular and reliable attendance is required.
- Lead and coordinate production employees on 1st shift
- Drive MDI: run huddles, lead problem-solving, and conduct Gemba walks
- Assign workstations, presses, and duties throughout the shift
- Support workflow planning to meet production schedules
- Train and mentor employees; onboard new hires
- Troubleshoot production and employee issues in real time
- Interpret blueprints, specs, and work instructions
- Coordinate material flow and finished goods transactions
- Process RMRs (Reject Material Reports)
- Support NPD launches with Engineering & Quality
- Monitor product measurements and ensure print compliance
- Assist with reports, labor tracking, and documentation
- Champion safety, CI initiatives, and OSHA compliance
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements & Working Conditions
High school diploma or (GED); an Associate degree in Supervisory Management or related field is preferred.
~3+ years in manufacturing (Production Technician, Mold Tech, or Set-Up Tech preferred)
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read blueprints, procedures, and technical documents
- Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook; IQMS a plus)
- Solid math skills (fractions, decimals, ratios, charts)
- Self-driven with strong initiative
- Active production floor (moving machinery, moderate noise)
- Standing/walking regularly; occasional lifting to 50 lbs.
- Requires attention to detail (close vision, depth, color)
- Overtime as needed to support business demands
