Molding expertise keeps time and materials loss to a minimum

Kaysun’s scientific molding engineers recently helped a faucet manufacturer quickly resolve a dimensional issue on a complex, four-cavity mold with tight tolerances – and achieve its production goals without missing a beat.

When partnering with the faucet manufacturer, Kaysun originally designed the mold to meet tight-tolerance requirements while also increasing efficiency by producing the four valve bodies at a time. During the molding process, the fourth mold cavity fell out of tolerance based on a sink in end of the diverter bore.

Kaysun engineers versed in scientific molding looked at the recorded data on the cavity pressure transducer graphs to get at the heart of the issue. Visualization of the data on the fourth cavity showed a cooling rate different from the other three. Seeing this, the mold technician checked the oil manifolds and identified the need to address a mechanical issue that prevented proper cooling throughout the mold. Shortly after taking the appropriate steps to rectify the issue, the fourth cavity performed to specification.

Thanks to thorough training and expertise in scientific molding – along with the pertinent data at hand – production of the precision part continued with minimal loss of time and material. Importantly, it gave the manufacturer the ability to maintain its strong track record for delivering high quality products on time and on budget.
